Prep Cross Country: Locals fare well at Benton Class Meet
Loren Whiting turned in a top-30 finish for the Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School cross country team, while Brett Plunkett was in the top-50 at Benton Monday.
A total of 30 teams representing both Class A and AA were on hand, where Whiting finished 26th for the Wildcats with a time of 18:35 and Gabe Motsinger was 93rd with a time of 21:20 and Billy Lewis was 111th, crossing the line at the 23:48 mark for the Wildcats.
"I thought Loren ran well today," CMSF coach Mike Eisenhauer said. "I was also really proud of Gabe, who cut almost a minute and half off his time from when we ran there the first time."
With the field, stretching 130-plus runners, Plunkett was 41st for the Eagles with a time of 19:04.
In the freshmen/sophomore race, Chris Acheson was 34th with a time of 21:36 and Brandon Burnett was 41st with a time of 22:27.
On the girls' side for Eldorado, Emilie Farmer was 99th with a time of 28:33, while Kim Acheson crossed the line at 28:45. Grace Pena wasn't far behind, finishing at the 29:15 mark and Jessica Miller finished in 33:15.
Eldorado will now prep for regionals this Saturday, which will be held at Benton.
"We are looking forward to Saturday," EHS coach Gina Griffin said. "I believe we have the capability to qualify at regionals and we are going to give it our best shot."
