CROSS COUNTRY: Du Quoin hosts first home meet since 2009; girls finish 2nd, boys 4th

Du Quoin played host for a home cross country meet for the first time since 2009 on Thursday, and the Lady Indians placed four runners inside the top-13, but came up just short of win behind first-place Carterville. The Lady Lions took three of the top four individual positions.

DHS was second among the four girls squads competing, and fourth out of the six boys teams.

Andrea Lopez was Du Quoin's best in the girls race, finishing 5th at a time of 21:26. Olivia Cravens (9th), Kate Smith (11th), Chloe Hill (13th) and Hope Stewart (21st) rounded out the Lady Indians' top five.

Steeleville topped the boys team results while Carterville's Harrison Thomas set a blistering pace as the individual winner with a time of 15:36.

The Indians were led by 15th place Caleb Davis (18:41). Completing Du Quoin's top five runners were Jordan Kirkpatrick (18th), Nick King (22nd), Bobby Coats (27th) and Nate Manning (33rd).

Du Quoin's cross country squads will travel to Nashville on Monday.
