Prep Girls Hoops: Benton beats Harrisburg for second straight SIRR Ohio Crown

Benton rallied from a 9-2 first quarter deficit and held Harrisburg to 11-for-48 shooting from the field in a 34-30 victory at Harrisburg late last week.

With the win, the Rangerettes claimed the Southern Illinois River-To-River Ohio Conference crown for the second straight season.

Braelyn Miller led Benton in scoring with 11 points, going 4-for-10 from the field and 3-of-4 from the free throw line.

The Rangerettes also got seven points from Ensley Tedeschi, while Addi Krueger scored six points, Ryleigh Bates finished with five points and Malia Webb tacked on three points.

Benton shot 11-for-40 from the field and finished 6-of-9 from the free throw line.

Harrisburg's effort erases a 23-point loss last time out at Benton. The Bulldogs were led in scoring by 14 points from Sidney Neal and Kameron Adams added five points. Riley Harrison and Chelsea Davidson each finished with four points and Kailyn Moss tossed in three points

Harrisburg grabbed a 9-2 lead and and led 18-13 at the break, but Benton outscored the 'Dogs 10-5 in the third quarter and 11-7 in the final eight minutes to earn the four-point win.

Benton 53, Poplar Bluff, Mo. 37

Ensley Tedeschi scored 23 points as Benton beat up on Poplar Bluff, Mo. 53-37 Saturday afternoon to Improve to 20-4 on the season.

Malia Webb netted nine points for the Rangerettes, while Barelyn Miller scored seven points. Addi Krueger finished with five points and Ryleigh Bates flipped in four.

Hannah Cardwell also got in on the scoring action, tossing in three points and Jacey Eubanks rounded things out with a pair of fourth quarter free throws for two points.

Benton jumped out to an 18-5 first quarter lead and grabbed a 31-10 halftime lead. Poplar Bluff outscored the Rangerettes 12-7 in the third quarter, but still trailed 38-22 going into the game's final eight minutes.

Eldorado 47, Hamilton County 46

Eldorado put two players in double figure, including a game-high 13 points for Lily Mosby, who also went over the 1,000th point mark in leading the Eagles to a 47-46 win over Hamilton County late last week at Duff-Kingston Gymnasium.

Karis Lane tacked on 12 points in a back-and-forth ballgame that saw Hamilton County grab an 8-7 first quarter lead and go into the locker room up 20-17. Eldorado had a big third quarter, outscoring the Foxes 16-9 to go up 33-29 and hold off the opposition down the stretch, despite being outscored 17-14.

Alexa Haenel added eight points for EHS, while Adrianna Hendrix scored seven points. Emily Sigler finished with four points and Kylee Oglesby tacked on three points.

Marion 78, Meridian 52

Jerzy Bittle had a career-high 40 points in helping lead Marion to a 78-52 non-conference win over Meridian late last week.

The Wildcats put three players in double figures, while Gracie Connor had 12 points and Lily Garrett's 10 points all came in the second half.

Payton Strobel finished with five points for MHS, while Lois Johnson and Kristen Kadela each finished with four points and Lydia Phelps tossed in three points.
