The football season opened last Friday in a game that looked like it should have been played mid-season. But in the end, the East Alton-Wood River Oilers topped the Bulldogs in overtime, 29-28 in Wood River.
The Mackie's Pizza of Harrisburg Player of the Game was junior Tevin Godsey who had six rushes for 96 yards and three Bulldog touchdowns.
The Bulldogs get back to it this week, preparing for Game 2 this coming Friday at Du Quoin's Van Metre Field.
