Post 167 caps off regular season with pair of wins
The Harrisburg American Legion Post 167 baseball team ended its regular season in the same fashion it started - with a pair of wins.
Post 167 knocked off Carrier Mills 10-0 on Thursday and capped off the regular season with a 1-0 win over Centralia.
In the win over Carrier Mills, Harrisburg had 10 hits on the day and put up five runs in the second inning, followed by five runs in the seventh.
Ben Brombaugh led all hitters by going 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI and two runs scored. Krayton Morse drove in a team-high three runs after going 1-for-3 with a run scored. Joining Morse in the one-hit club was Jackson Pittman, Andrew Bittle, Caden VanMeter, Braden Unthank, Luke Miller and Brendan Bergan. Bergan had two RBI, while VanMeter finished with one. Miller scored two runs, while Pittman, Bittle, VanMeter, and Bergan all scored one.
On the mound, Drew Hawkins got the win, throwing a one-hitter over five innings, Hawkins struck out five, while walking five. Noah Frailey came on in relief, throwing two innings, allowing one hit and struck out two.
On Saturday, Jackson Pittman had the game winning walkout RBI single and tossed a complete game shutout as Harrisburg ended the regular season 27-6 and will open up play in the 5th Division Tournament on Tuesday.
Pittman allowed no runs on three hits, while striking out eight and walking two.
At the plate, Pittman went 2-for-4 with an RBI, scoring Bergan in the bottom of the seventh.
Bergan, along with Krayton Morse, Drew Fromm, Brombaugh, Miller and Hawkins all had one hit.
Harrisburg will play host to Carrier Mills in the first game of the 5th Division Tournament Tuesday at 6:30. If Post 167 wins, they would play host to the winner of Steeleville//Carbondale on Wednesday.
All games will be played at Jay Thompson Field.
