"Rivalry Day" Highlights Action on Day 2 of EHT

Day Two at the Eldorado Holiday Tournament was probably better known as Rivalry Day.

Game 10: Friday kicked off with Hamilton County beating Gallatin County 55-40 and the storyline in that game was the Doug Miller connection. Miller, now in his second year at Hamilton County, spent six seasons at Gallatin, four of which were as head coach before moving on to Hamilton Co.

The Foxes were led by Tyce Gordon's 14 points. Gallatin County had 16 points from Dawson Hish

Game 11: Harrisburg picked up its first win of the season, holding on to beat county rival Carrier Mills 50-49. Andrew Bittle had a team-high 18 points for Harrisburg. Colton Mitchell, of Carrier Mills, led all scorers with 20 points. The two towns are separated by 11 miles.

Game 12: Hardin County staved off another elimination game by beating Vienna 59-58 and will now play Harrisburg in tonight's 10 p.m. loser-goes-home matchup. Calen Banks had a team-high 18 points and Matthew Naese had 18 points for Vienna.

Game 13 &14: In the afternoon session, Herrin moved onto the semifinals by beating Carterville 59-48 and will meet up with Fairfield, who knocked off West Frankfort 67-59. Herrin and Fairfield met in last year's EHT championship that saw the Mules win the title for just the second time.

Brandon Anthony led Herrin with 20 points and Carterville's Bryce Anderson had a team-high 13 points.

Kane Hixenbuagh led the Mules in scoring with a tournament-high 23 points. Isaiah Thompson had 21 points in the loss for West Frankfort.

Game 15: Before he spent six seasons at Gallatin County, Doug Miller was on the sidelines for eight years at NCOE. Miller got the better of his former club as the Foxes advanced to Saturday's Consolation Bracket Championship with a 40-36 win over NCOE.

Gus Waldon had a game-high 16 points and the Cardinals' Joe Melton had 13 points.

Game 16: Massac County and Anna-Jonesboro met on the hardwood on December 21st with the Patriots pulling out a 10-point 59-49 win. Six days later, the two met in the quarterfinals of the EHT, where once again, Massac County got the better of the Wildcats, picking up a 58-42 victory.

The Patriots were led by Zach Travis' 17 points, while Anna-Jonesboro got a team-high15 points from Blake Pena.

Game 17: In keeping with the rivalry theme, Eldorado and Black Diamond Conference East partner Carmi-White County squared off in what was an epic battle as Carmi-White County came away with the tournament's first upset in a 66-48 win over Eldorado.

Ethan Mahon and Kate Fulkerson each had 17 points for Carmi, who now plays Massac County in Saturday's semifinals.

Eldorado was led by Parker Price's 10 points.
