Harrisburg Register relocates to 617 E. Church St.

HARRISBURG - The staff at the Harrisburg Register, formerly known as the Daily Register, has relocated.

The historic publication with more than a century of ties to Saline County, has moved on from its downtown Vine Street address to its new spot at 617 E. Church St. across the road from CVS Pharmacy.

"The move makes a lot of sense, not only from an economical standpoint, but safety standpoint," said Managing Editor John Homan. "The old building served us well over the years, but has grown antiquated and a bit hazardous. We believe the new digs will suit our needs much better."

Homan said staff will be more mobile than before. Reporter Travis DeNeal and ad salesperson Brittany Gresham will maintain some office hours, but can also work from their laptops at home or at other locales throughout the community and county.

DeNeal can be reached at (618) 926-3778 or at Reach Gresham at (618) 924-1972 or

"News doesn't happen in our office, or at our desks," Homan said. "In fact, if we're doing our jobs correctly, we should be out and about in the community where the news happens. That is exactly what we are going to do."

Hours of operation will remain the same - from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The office phone will remain the same at (618) 253-7146.

While the location of the newspaper office may have changed, Homan said the commitment to journalism excellence and bringing readers hometown news has not.

"That remains our top priority," he said. "We welcome feedback from our readers so that we can continue to be your paper of choice."
