CROSS COUNTRY: PCHS's Keith wins at SIRR meet; five other locals All-Conference

Pinckneyville's Sophie Keith is the girls SIRR Mississippi Division individual Cross Country champion after finishing four seconds ahead of her closest competitor at last Thursday's River-to-River Conference meet in Sparta.

Keith finished the girls' race with a time of 20:24 and was joined by teammate Shania Opp (9th, 23:08) on the list of Lady Panthers receiving All-Conference awards.

Pinckneyville finished fourth overall as a team with Madison Garavaglia (20th), Hannah Porter (22nd), Taylor Smith (24th), Megan Bagley (28th) and Libby Ryterski (33rd) also competing.

Du Quoin's girls placed third, led by All-Conference award winners Quinn Kirkpatrick (4th, 21:39) and Andrea Lopez (7th, 22:40). Kate Smith (16th), Grace Bailey (18th), Olivia Cravens (25th), Tarynn Mays (27th) and Kate Robinson (32nd) completed the list of Lady Indians running at Sparta.

In the boys' race, the Panthers claimed third place in the team standings and earned All-Conference awards for third-place finisher Layton McNew (18:05) and tenth-place runner Caleb Logan (18:54). Garrett Johnson (12th), Brady Louis (16th), Grant Batteau (19th), Cale Jausel (22nd) and Grayson Buza (26th) rounded out PCHS's entries in the race.

Du Quoin's top finisher was Nick King, who crossed the line 24th. Caleb Davis (30th), Isaiah Francis (31st), Kyler Lively (32nd), Paxton Higgerson (33rd), Jacob Hill (34th) and Nathan Manning (35th) were the other Indians participating.

Both schools will compete at the Chester Regional this Saturday, October 25th at the Randolph County Conservation Area.
