Three Harrisburg High School wrestlers were recently named to the All-South Team as Tony Keene, Bryant Lester and Brendan Hicks all represented the Bulldogs on the postseason award list.
Tony Keene made history at Harrisburg this past season as the Bulldog sophomore became just the second person in school history to place at the IHSA State Tournament, finishing fourth as he joined 1994 graduate Aaron Bailey as the only two Bulldogs to come away with a medal at Champaign.
Keene was 40-4 this past season with three of his losses coming to wrestlers that finished first, second and third at the state tournament this year.
Keene won a regional for the Bulldogs this past season, beating Goreville's Briley Lehmen in the 113-pound weight class and finished third in the Vandalia sectional.
Bryant Lester finished 25-10 this past season and lost at the Vandalia Sectional losing to Taylorville's William Blue in the consolation bracket.
At the regional, Lester lost in the championship match by a 16-4 majority decision to Fairfield's Konnor Dagg in the 195-pound weight class.
Brendan Hicks, a freshman who was 24-18 this past season in the 182-pound weight class, suffered a first round loss to Pittsfield's Tucker Cook and then lost to Lawrenceville's Nathan Blackwell at the Vandalia Sectional. At the Regional, like Lester, Hicks lost in the championship match, losing in a 13-11 decision to Fairfield's Landon Stewart.
