EHT Recaps: Eldorado, Harrisburg fall into fifth place bracket

Just as quickly as things were going right for Eldorado in its Black Diamond Conference rivalry game with Hamilton County Tuesday night at the Eldorado Holiday Tournament, things took a quick turn for the worst.

After taking a 15-13 first quarter lead, the Eagles got the first bucket of the second quarter to go up 17-13. From there, Hamilton County closed out the quarter on a 19-0 run that extended to as much as 28-0 in the third quarter en route to a 65-37 victory, moving the Foxes into the championship semifinal.

The Foxes finished with three players in double figures as Brady Thrane led Hamilton County with 17 points, including eight in that all-important second quarter.

Wyatt Hanson, who erupted for nine points in the third quarter, scored 16 in the game and Austin Harrelson rounded out the double figure scoring with 11 points.

Hamilton County also got seven points a piece from both Jaden York and Grady Lueke, while Layton Karcher finished with five points and Trenton Pike tossed in two points.

Eldorado got 14 points from Josh Owens, including 10 in the first quarter as Eldorado took a 15-13 lead.

Parker Price scored six for the Eagles, while Gage Heath finished with five points. Trevor Milligan tacked on four points, while Boston Bradley, Dylan Henshaw, Isaac Barrett and Jake Phelps all had two points.

Massac County 65, Harrisburg 60

In a game that featured 12 3-pointers and a nine lead changes, Massac County held off a late rally by Harrisburg to win 65-60 Tuesday night at the EHT.

Each team knocked down six 3-pointers on the night, including one by Michael Godsey giving Harrisburg a 34-33 lead in the third quarter, but Massac County's Isaac Hosman countered with a trifecta of his own, giving the Patriots a 36-34 lead and one they didn't relinquish going on a 9-0 run and leading 46-38 going into the the final eight minutes of the game.

Cameron Ande continues his hot shooting for the Bulldogs, leading the way with 16 points. Michael Godsey tacked on 13 points and Vaundre McIntosh tossed in 12 points.

Nathan Lawrence added eight points for the Bulldogs, while Myles Crank finished with five points. Chris Allen flipped in four points and Tevin Godsey had a basket.

The Patriots were led by 17 points from Hosman, while Will Harmon and Ian Higgerson also finished in double figures with 15 points a piece.

Brady Cissell added eight points, while Brody Smallman scored six points and Reed McCuan finished with four points.

Eldorado and Harrisburg will now meet in the bottom bracket of the fifth place game, squaring off at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The winner takes on either Vienna or Fairfield at 6 p.m.
