Prep Boys Hoops: Fairfield picks up BDC win over Eagles

Josh Owens scored 16 points and Gage Heath finished in double figures with 13 points as Eldorado dropped a 63-45 game to Fairfield in Black Diamond Conference action late last week.

The Eagles (5-5, 1-2) put four other players in double figures as Parker Price netted nine points. Boston Bradley finished with four points, while Trevor Milligan tacked on two points and Dylan Henshaw three in a fourth quarter free throw.

Fairfield improved to 8-3 overall and 2-1 in league play as Dylan Best had a game-high 23 points, while Eric Rogers scored 16 points and Noah Barger rounded out the double figure scoring with 10 points. McGwire Taylor tossed in nine points for the Mules, while Jesse Milner had three points in the final eight minutes and Camden Robbins tossed in two points.

The Mules jumped out to a 24-9 first quarter lead and led 35-18 at halftime. Fairfield was able to keep its distance against the Eagles taking a 49-32 lead into the final eight minutes for the 18-point victory.

The Eldorado junior varsity team dropped a 65-30 contest to Fairfield, where Steven Doggett led the Eagles in scoring with 10 points.

Canon Weatherly scored seven points, while Jake Phelps and Ryznn Shaw each provided four points a piece. Nick Stanford and Ryne Cox tacked on two points and Andrew Murry had a free throw.

Both Eldorado and Fairfield make up the 16-team field of this week's Eldorado Holiday Tournament where the Mules will battle Anna-Jonesboro at 1:45 p.m. and the Eagles will take on Carmi-White County Monday at 4:45 p.m.
