Prep Hoops: Gallatin County knocks off Galatia in GEC battle

Gallatin County put eight players in the scoring column, including three in double figures as the Hawks picked up a 66-54 win over Galatia Monday night.

Gallatin County got a 17-point performance out of Jaxon Knott, while Lane Henson and Noah Richardson each registered 11 points in the win.

Gallatin County went wire-to-wire for the win, taking a 20-13 lead after the first quarter and went into the locker room up 34-27. The Hawks outscored Galatia 32-27 in the second half, taking a 50-43 lead into the fourth quarter.

Mattix Sandler just missed double figure scoring for Gallatin County, netting nine points, while Jeremy Brugger and Tate Duvall each scored seven points. Rylie Rushing and Wyatt Fromm both scored two points.

Galatia was led in scoring with a game-high 18 points from Frailey, while Wright had 15 points for the Bearcats.

Carlile added eight points for Galatia, while Thatcher finished with four points and Lambert tossed in two points.

Gallatin County returns to the hardwood Friday, hosting Eldorado.

Carmi-White County jumped out to a 21-2 first quarter lead and never looked back in a 49-27 season opening win over Gallatin County late last week.

Jeremy Brugger led the Hawks with nine points, while Rylie Rushing scored seven points. Tate Duvall chipped in with six points, while Jaxon Knott finished with four and Lane Henson threw in a fourth quarter free throw.

Carmi-White County led 28-8 at halftime and outscored the Hawks 20-19 in the second half, holding a 39-17 advantage after three quarters of play.

Gallatin County was scheduled to host Galatia Monday night and will play host to Eldorado Friday night.night.
