A seesaw battle went the way of Christopher-Zeigler-Royalton Friday night at Spann Field as the Bearcats beat Eldorado 20-14 in Black Diamond Conference action.
A third quarter touchdown by Cole Freeman with 50 seconds to play, broke a 14-all tie and was the wining score in wild weather conditions.
Freeman did all the scoring for C-Z-R as he capped off his night with 24 carries for 152 yards.
Eldorado got on the board first after Brock Cantrell scores from 46 yards out and Parker Price hooked up Boston Bradley for the two-point conversion, giving the Eagles a quick 8-0 advantage.
In the second quarter, Freeman scored two of his three touchdowns on the night, going in from 5- and 1-yard out, including a two-point conversion in helping C-Z-R to a 14-8 halftime lead.
Eldorado tied the game at 14-14 when Dylan Henshaw broke off a 14-yard run, but the Eagles failed to convert on the two-point conversion.
Freeman's touchdown that followed proved to the the difference.
Eldorado rushed for 248 yards on the night, finishing with 259 total
Henshaw had 99 yards on 16 carries, while Cantrell had 12 carries for 89 yards. Price finished with 64 yards on eight carries.
Under center, Price was 1-for-7 for 11 yards with the one catch coming from Henshaw.
Eldorado (1-7) will close out the regular season Friday at home against Edwards County.
