Prep Football: Salem snaps Harrisburg's unbeaten streak

Salem's Braden Smith broke up a see-saw ballgame Friday night with a pair of late second half scores as Salem knocked off previously unbeaten Harrisburg 41-22 in non-conference action at Taylor Field.

Harrisburg, who trailed 15-0 early, got on the board with a Bryant Lester three-yard run with 36 seconds to play before halftime.

Salem's Cayden Harris, who also had two touchdowns on the night, opened up the third quarter with a three-yard run to give the Wildcats (2-1) a 22-6 advantage.

Harrisburg (2-1) pulled to within eight at 22-14 with 5:50 left in the third when Ross Rider went 53 yards and Lester provided the two-point conversion.

From there, Smith caught a 49-yard pass and used his legs to run out aa 23-yard run, pushing Salem's advantage to 21 points as the Wildcats took a 35-14 lead.

Harrisburg got on the board one last time as Sam Martin hauled in a 47-yard catch from Ben Gulley as Lester provided the two-point conversion.

Harrisburg will return home Friday when they play host to West Frankfort for Homecoming at Taylor Field.
