Harrisburg starts spring with two wins

The Harrisburg softball team started its season in style, picking up a pair of wins as the Bulldogs knocked off Hardin County 12-2 on Monday and beat Carrier Mills-Stonefort 14-3 in five innings Tuesday.

In the win against Hardin County, Kerrigan Payne pitched Harrisburg to victory as she struck out eight over six innings, allowing one earned run on three hits.

Riley Wright paced the Bulldogs at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, while McKenzie Boyd was 2-for-4, including the walk-off home run in the sixth inning. Sophie Brombaugh also had multiple hits, finishing 2-for-2 on the day with an RBI.

Sidney Neal, Kerrigan Payne, Kennedy Borders and Joey Quinn all had one hit, while Neal and Quinn each finished with two RBI. Payne and Borders both drove in one run.

In the win over Carrier Mills-Stonefort, Payne improved to 2-0 on the season by striking out nine over four innings. Brittany Morse came on in relief and allowing three runs on three hits with one strikeout.

At the dish, McKenzie King, Joey Quinn, Kerrigan Payne and Sophie Brombaugh all had two hits and an RBI. Sidney Neal, Riley Wright and Tessa Harrison all had one hit and an RBI.
