Harrisburg dropped to 2-2 on the season after suffering an 8-5 loss to West Frankfort Monday afternoon.
Kerrigan Payne (2-2) took the loss, giving up eight runs (five earned) on 12 hits, while walking four and striking out two.
At the plate, Riley Wright and McKenzie Boyd both had multiple hit days as Wright went 2-for-3 and Boyd went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Mackenzie King was 1-for-2 with two RBI, while Eliza Wiggins and Sophie Brombaugh each had one hit as well. Payne finished 1-for-2 on the day with a solo home run in the seventh inning.
West Frankfort grabbed the lead with a run in the top of the first inning, but Harrisburg countered with two runs in the bottom of the first. Harley McCabe pinch ran for Payne, who scored on a throwing error after a Riley Wright bunt. Boyd followed with a base hit, scoring Brombaugh.
The Bulldogs then surrendered two runs in the second and two runs in the third and gave up a run in the sixth to tail 6-2.
Harrisburg came back with two runs in the sixth to cut the lead to two, but the Bulldogs gave up two more runs in the seventh.
Haririsburg was scheduled to take on Massac County Tuesday and will host Waltonville in a double header Wednesday. On Thursday, the Bulldogs travel to Pope County and will make the trey to Benton Friday.
