Boon to continue baseball career at SIC

Since Noah Boon can remember, all he has wanted to do is playing college baseball.

That dream turned into a nightmare after his junior season was wiped out due to COIVD-19, but Boon stayed patient and kept the dream alive by signing scholarship papers with Southeastern Illinois College.

Not only will Boon be able to play college baseball, but he will be able to do so close to home, something he said was very important.

"This just means a lot. It's a day I have been dreaming about since I was younger and started playing baseball. It's awesome and being able to sign with my friends is even more special."

Boon signed his papers on a day when he was joined by classmates Javie Beal (Parkland), Ben Brombaugh, along with, Colby and Krayton Morse (Lincoln Trail) who also signed to continue their baseball career.

As a sophomore, Boon played in 36 games for Harrisburg, hitting .315, with a .438 slugging percentage and his 24 RBI were fifth best on the team. He led the team in innings pitched at 64 and a team-best 9-2 record with a 1.203 ERA with 80 strikeouts and 26 walks.

Boon said he plans on being a two-way player for the Falcons and will get his general studies out of the way before perusing a degree in physical therapy.

"We've had a lot of ups and downs, but we just had to stay level headed and be positive," Boon said of the recent circumstances.

On a positive note, Boon is looking forward to having the potential of seeing his high school teammates throughout the season.

"It's going to be exciting and awesome. This all started when we were younger and just cool to be living it out right now."
