Marion looks to keep playoff streak intact under Martin

The longest playoff streak in southern Illinois currently resides at Marion High School.

Wildcat head coach Kerry Martin, who is entering his 19th season, doesn't plan on giving up that title anytime soon, where Marion has been in the playoffs the last 15 consecutive seasons.

After finishing 8-2 last season with a home loss to Troy-Triad in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs, Martin and company will look at the 2020 schedule with some familiar eyes.

For the first time in nearly a decade, the Wildcats' schedule will be the same as the existing season.

Marion opens the fall slate with a home game against Mahomet-Seymour on August 28th. That will also be the schools Patriot Game.

The Wildcats then hit the road for back-to-back games against Jerseyville (September 4th) and Highland (Sept. 11th).

MHS will then begin South Seven Conference play and have back-to-back home games, hosting Cahokia (Sept. 18th) and Mt. Vernon (Sept. 25th). The home game against Mt. Vernon will also serve as the schools Pink Out game.

The first two weekends of October will be spent on the road as the Wildcats go to Belleville Althoff (October 2) and Centralia (Oct. 9), before closing out the month at home against Carbondale (Oct. 16) and on the road at Mattoon (Oct. 23). The Carbondale game will also be Marion's Homecoming and Senior Night game.
