Dolores Jane Glover, formerly of Benton

Dolores Jane Glover of Plainfield joined her beloved husband, John, in heaven on March 11, 2023. She passed away in the evening at Edward Hospital in Naperville after a weeks-long fight with a serious blood infection.

Dolores was born a coal miner's daughter to Fred and Mae Cunningham at their home in West City on Feb. 26, 1934. Dolores was a proud graduate of the class of '52 at Benton Consolidated High School and a graduate of Lockyears Business College in Evansville, Ind.

Dolores married her loving husband, John D. Glover (Retired Capt. USMC) in August of 1958 and began her journey in life as a dedicated Marine wife and mother of two sons, John D Glover Jr. and Gregory D. Glover. After John's retirement from the Marines, Dolores and John returned to Benton to raise their sons and enjoy life in her hometown. Dolores was active in her local social sorority and their card club circle of friends. Dolores enjoyed attending her Class of '52 reunions and luncheons until she had to move to Plainfield. She worked as a bookkeeper at Swinford and Palmer, CPAs, as an Office Assistant for Judge and Attorney Larry Lewis, and the Benton Chamber of Commerce.

Later in life, Dolores and John enjoyed their yearly six-month hiatus to sunny Florida, where they created new friendships at Topics RV Resort in Spring Hill, Fla.

Dolores was one of four siblings. She was preceded in death by brothers James Cunningham and Kenneth Cunningham and sister Mary Ann (Cunningham) Wellever.

She is survived by her two sons and their families, both in the Chicago area: son John and Theresa (Piper) Glover of Naperville, grandson Eric Glover of Naperville, son Greg and Elizabeth (Scott) Glover of Plainfield, grandson Jonathon Glover of Denver, Colo., and granddaughter Molly Glover of Lockport.

She will be missed by her family and friends.

Dolores has rejoined hands with her husband John and will now be together forever more!
