Sherry Lynn Zimmerman of El Dorado, Ark.

Sherry Lynn Zimmerman, 62, of El Dorado, Ark., passed away Monday, Oct. 10, 2022, at the Medical Center of South Arkansas.

Sherry was born in Ringling, Okla., the daughter of Gerald D. and Helen Besherse Hart. After her birth she returned with her family to their home in Flora, where she grew up. She later moved with her parents to Ringling, Okla., where she graduated from high school. 

After high school she moved to Oklahoma City, where she had a more than 25-year career with the Federal Reserve Bank.  While at the Federal Reserve she met and married her husband, George. In her 40's she completed a degree in network management from Southern Nazarene University. After receiving her degree she worked in cyber security for The Midfirst Group and Loves Country stores. She then moved with her husband to El Dorado, Ark., where she was employed by Murphy USA as a Cyber Security Team Supervisor. She has several certifications in computer security: CISSP, GCIH, GCFE, GSEC, ITIL. 

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Gerald Ray Hart.

Survivors are her husband of 35 years, George Zimmerman; a sister Brenda Lusk and husband William of Flora; brother Larry Hart and wife Janet of Blanchard, Okla.; six nieces and nephews; 15 great-nieces and -nephews; three great-great-nieces and -nephews; and her feline friends Phebe, Charlie, Lucy, ZeZe and Mindy. 

Quilting was an enjoyment and hobby for Sherry, especially with her mother. She completed many beautiful quilts. She and her dad loved to tease and torment each other. She always loved cats and having them around her.

The family visited with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday evening, Oct. 17, 2022, at Young's Funeral Directors.
