Renwick 'Butch' Smith, formerly of Chester

Renwick "Butch" Alden Smith, 79, of St. Charles, Missouri, passed away the evening of Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at his home in St. Charles. He was born to the late Renwick A. and Ella I. (nee Phegley) Smith on April 24, 1942 in Chester, Illinois.

Butch is survived by his wife, Marty; his son, Ed (Dawn) Waters of St. Peters, Missouri; his daughter, Crissy (Chris) Anderson of Wentzville, Missouri; three granddaughters, Payton Waters, Cameron Waters and Emma Anderson; his sister Barbara Gulick of West Palm Beach, Florida; his sister Rita (Richard) Heinze of Creve Couer, Missouri; and his sister, Sr. Janet Sue Smith of Ruma, Illinois.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Edwin Smith and brother-in-law Phil Gulick.

Butch proudly and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a technician for McDonnell Douglas/Boeing for 46 years before retiring.

He enjoyed spending time outdoors riding his motorcycle, fishing, and golfing with friends. He also liked to keep his mind active, playing games like pinochle and putting together jigsaw puzzles.

Butch loved the time he spent with his family, especially his granddaughters. He enjoyed trips to the beach and had a passion for attending garage sales. Butch could turn a rustic piece into a new treasure, and people would always look forward to finding a new piece in his collection. Butch was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Memorials may be made in Butch's name to the donor's choice.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 9 at Baue Funeral Home, Cave Springs, 3950 West Clay, St. Charles, Missouri.

Visitation will continue from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 10 at the funeral home, with the funeral service to follow at 11:30 a.m.
