Charles Randall Henson of Carrier Mills

Charles Randall Henson, age 87, of Carrier Mills, passed to his heavenly home at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022, in the Carrier Mills Nursing Home in Carrier Mills, Illinois.

Randall was born on Feb. 3, 1935, in Carrier Mills to William "Bill" and Gazelle (Ingram) Henson. He voluntarily enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Randall was united in marriage to Carolyn Holmes on March 13, 1958. He retired from Sahara Coal and was a Methodist by faith.

He was a member of the Carrier Mills Masonic Lodge AF&AM and American Legion Post 364. Randall was an avid sports fan who enjoyed attending and watching basketball and baseball. He enjoyed camping and riding horses when his health allowed.

Randall is survived by his wife; grandchildren Chad (Heather) Samples of California and Emma (Derrick) Lewis of Marion; great-grandchildren Lexi and Logan Samples of California and Erza Lewis of Marion; a sister, Georgia (Bill) Parks of Harrisburg; nieces, Rhonda (Shannon) Goolsby of Harrisburg, Toni (Joe) Parton, Tami Hancock of Carrier Mills, Valerie (Kenneth) Henshaw of Harrisburg and Stephanie (Todd) Laake; nephew Tom (Suzettte) Parks of Vienna; great-nieces Haley and Hannah Goolsby and Sydney and Lauren Hancock; and great-great-nephew Henson Hancock.

Randall was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Billy Henson; a sister, Joann Holley; and nephews Brad and Greg Holley.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022, at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills. The funeral will follow at 11 a.m., officiated by the Rev. Shannon Goolsby, and also at the funeral home.

The burial will be in the Salem Cemetery in Carrier Mills.

The suggested form of remembrance are memorials to the No. 7 Cemetery in care of Georgia Parks, 5205 U.S. Route 45, Harrisburg, Illinois 62946. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
