George Leroy Lindle of Harrisburg

George Leroy Lindle, 89, of Harrisburg, Illinois and formerly of Carrier Mills, Illinois, died at 8:03 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021 at Harrisburg Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021 at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills. Visitation will begin after 11 a.m. on Thursday and go until service time. The Rev. Bob Futch will officiate and burial will be in Joyner Cemetery in Stonefort, Illinois.

Leroy was born on Nov. 27, 1932 in Sturgis, Kentucky to the late Thomas J. and Mary (Gogue) Lindle.

He married the former Evelyn Janice Ritter on March 17, 1965 in Morganfield, Kentucky, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 5, 2014.

Leroy was a retired coal miner, and worked at several of the area mines before his retirement. He was a member of the Seventh Day Baptist Church in Stonefort.

Leroy was an avid walker, you would see him almost every day walking the streets of Carrier Mills or taking advantage of the bike trail.

He is survived by four sons, Mike (Candy) Lindle; John Lindle; Ellis (Fem) McEwan and Mike McEwan all of Harrisburg; two daughters, Karen Foster of Harrisburg and Pat Jackson of Texas; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn Janice Lindle; two daughters, Nancy Lindle and Joyce Colbruth; a son, Jim McEwan; a brother, Virgil Lindle; and two sisters, Lavada Rice and Marie Futch Fritts.
