Dr. J.L. Manalang of Marion

Dr. J.L. Manalang, 83, passed away on September 7, 2021 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

He was born on July 11, 1938 in the Philippines.

He was a radiologist who served the community at various hospitals and health clinics around southern Illinois. His private practice was Marion Medical X-Ray.

Jess was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Mary, daughters Michelle Manalang and husband, Stuart Kahler, and Karen Stark and husband, Warren, sons Patrick Manalang and Kevin Manalang; and grandchildren Remington Kahler, Hayden Richardson, Landon Richardson, Wednesday Manalang, Case Manalang, Austin Stark, Taylor Stark, and Morrisa Stark.

He is also survived by his twin brother, Joseph (Joe) Manalang and wife, Beth, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Jess was preceded in death by his parents and Marty Richardson, beloved father of grandsons Hayden and Landon.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 9, 2021, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion with Father Brian Barker officiating.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion.

For those who prefer, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church. Envelopes will be available and accepted at the church the day of the service or at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market Street, Marion, IL 62959.
