Rilee Drew Owens of Chester

Rilee Drew Owens, 16, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 4:26 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 in Perryville, Missouri.

She was born to Ricky and Bobbie (nee Hughes) Owens on Sept. 9, 2004 in Red Bud, Illinois.

Rilee was an amazing daughter and sister. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a loving, kind and silly girl who would light up the room with her smile.

Rilee always saw the good in others and always tried to make the world a better place. She always gave her all and never expected anything in return. Rilee's compassion was not only extended toward friends and family, but to animals as well. She would bring in every stray animal she could to give them a warm and loving home. Rilee was loved and adored by many and will be greatly missed.

She was of Pentecostal Faith. Rilee attended Chester High School where she was a member of the CHS Band and Drama Club. She loved to draw, paint and do crafts and was a great cook.

She is survived by her parents, Ricky and Bobbie Owens of Chester; her sister, Avery Owens of Chester; her paternal grandmother, Barbara Gowen of Perryville; a foster sister, Delaney of Chester; three uncles, William (Brenda) Hughes of Millersville, Pennsylvania, Harvey (Charlotte) Hughes of Tilden, Illinois and Rocky (Nicole) Hendrix of Perryville; two aunts, Melba (David) Sudmeyer of Manning, South Carolina and Bonnie (Phillip) Talley of Wentzville, Missouri; and many great-aunts and great-uncles, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Dorothy and Leroy Hughes; her paternal grandfather, William Owens; her paternal step-grandfather, Vernon Gowen; and one uncle, Clyde Gowen.

The funeral service will begin at noon on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Pechacek Funeral Homes in Chester, with the Rev. Phillip Keeton officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Chester.

Visitation will be held prior to the funeral, from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, at Pechacek Funeral Homes in Chester.
