Betty A. Yankey of Chester

Betty A. Yankey, 66, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 4:14 a.m. on Friday, April 23, 2021 at her residence.

She was born to the late Lafayette and Verna (nee Cording) Goeddel on July 24, 1954 in Red Bud, Illinois.

Betty married Richard Yankey on June 19, 1971; he preceded her in death on Aug. 17, 2008.

She worked as a custodian for ConAgra in Chester for 30 years.

Betty was of the Presbyterian faith. She enjoyed spending time with family and neighbors and loved her cats. She had one of the biggest hearts of anyone you would ever meet and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by two children, Kim (David) Grass of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri and Laurie Richardet (fiance Brandon Pecaut) of Perryville, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Donna Steele, of Perryville, Missouri; and two grandchildren, Cortnie Richardet and Mackenzie Grass.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Melba Goeddel; and two grandchildren, Paige Johnson and Lukas Welton.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 26, 2021 at Pechacek Funeral Homes in Chester, with the Rev. Phillip Keeton officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Chester.

Visitation will be held prior to the service, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Pechacek Funeral Homes in Chester.

The funeral home is limited to 50 people inside the building at a time. Guests are asked to wear masks and to observe social distancing guidelines.

Memorials are suggested to the Chester Food Pantry or the Randolph County Humane Society.
