Richard A. Moore of Chester

Richard A. Moore, 80, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 6:48 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 14, 2020 at OSF St. Anthony's Health Center in Alton, Illinois.

He was born to the late Jesse Washington and Edna Laura (nee Hermes) Moore on Dec. 13, 1939 in Chester, Illinois.

He worked as a security guard at Menard Correctional Center and Chester Mental Health.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chester, and the Breezy Hill Radio Controlled Flying Club in Chester. He enjoyed fishing, reading classic novels and Sherlock Holmes.

He was an Air Force veteran.

Survivors include his two daughters, Lisa (Darrin) Hayes of Godfrey, Illinois and Angela Moore of Sarasota, Florida; three grandchildren, Jordan Hayes, Rachel Hayes and Brandon Hayes and two great-grandchildren, Caiden and Lily Hayes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and four brothers.

A private graveside service will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri. The Rev. Phillip Keeton will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given in Richard's memory to In Touch Ministry. They are being accepted at the funeral home.
