Alma Louise (Kimmel) Linson, formerly of Chester

Alma Louise (Kimmel) Linson was born on Oct. 13, 1934 to Manuel and Norma (Lindsey) Kimmel on a farm three miles west of Wolf Lake. She was born into a family of seven, with two brothers, Paul and Merle, and four sisters, Eula, Beulah, Carrie and Gloria.

Alma Linson died on July 12, 2020, in Anna, Illinois.

She attended McGinnis Grade School for eight years, graduating from grade school in 1948. She then attended Wolf Lake High School for four years, graduating from high school in 1952.

After graduating, Alma worked in the Anna Shoe Factory office for two years. Then she worked at the Union County Highway Department for two years. She went to beauty school in Murphysboro, and owned and operated four beauty shops before she retired at an early age so she and her husband could travel and fish in lakes in southern Illinois.

Alma married Donald Linson, the love of her life, on Feb. 27, 1954. He went to be with the Lord on Feb. 17, 2011.

Alma attended the Galilee Baptist Church for many years. She was saved at a two-week revival there, and was baptized at the Grand Tower Baptist Church, because Galilee didn't have a baptistry. She was a member of the Jonesboro Baptist Church for many years but was unable to attend the past few years due to health reasons.

She leaves behind three nieces, Joyce Plott of Anna, Sharon Morgan of Jonesboro and Marilyn Krezynski of Chicago; her nephews, Russel Hill of Jonesboro, Larry Hill of Anna, Marion Hill of Dongola, Rick Schaefer of St. Genevieve, Missouri, Randy Schaefer of Jonesboro and Richard Tweedy; her classmate and special friend, Joe Walker; and many other relatives and friends.

She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
