Doris Pigg of Harrisburg

Doris Pigg, age 87, of Harrisburg, passed away at 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020 at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana surrounded by her family.

Doris was born on Sept. 5, 1932 in Terre Haute, Indiana to the late Chester Arthur and Rosa Carolina (Bachelor) Buttrey.

She married Robert M. Pigg on Sept. 15, 1950 and he survives in Harrisburg.

Doris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She worked part time for Sears and H&R Block and she served as an election clerk. She was a longtime member of McKinley Avenue Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband Robert, Doris is survived by four children, Robert (Sandy) Pigg of Benton, Alan (Margaret) Pigg of Anna, Connie (Kenny) Nolen of Harrisburg, and Richard (Elizabeth) Pigg of Harrisburg; nine grandchildren, Lori Ann (Tom) Tedeschi of Benton, B.J. (Starla) Pigg of Galatia, Adam (Sara) Nolen of Evansville, Indiana, Kaci Nolen of Calvert City, Kentucky, Jennifer (Adam) Eastman of Anna, Christopher (Nichole) Pigg of St. James, Missouri, Ben (Jill) Pigg of Carbondale, Jason (Jessica) Pigg of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Autumn (Josh) Watson of Marion; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Margie (Jerry) Oxford of Indianapolis; and a brother, Jack Buttrey of Dayton, Ohio.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Jimmy Buttrey.

Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 13, 2020 at McKinley Avenue Baptist Church. The Rev. Billy Dye Jr. will officiate and burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 13, 2020 at McKinley Avenue Baptist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to McKinley Avenue Baptist Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
