From "Looking Back" as published daily in the Eldorado Daily Journal and The Daily Register Dec. 14, 1936: Two would-be holdup men made a bid for the contempt of all residents of this city last night by trying to rob 73-year-old B. D. Russell of 15 W. Homer St. and his blind wife. The robbers met the Russells, who were on their way to the Christian Church, on the sidewalk in front of the Junior High School. One yelled "holdup" and Russell was struck on the head with a blunt instrument. He fell and his wife fell on top of him.
