Ellis Grove man, 19, dies after UTV crash

An Ellis Grove man died Saturday, March 26, after being thrown from a UTV in Randolph County following a single-vehicle crash, according to the Illinois State Police.

Dylan R. Hamilton, 19, of Ellis Grove was pronounced dead at the scene around 2:10 p.m. Saturday, police said.

According to a preliminary report from the state police, the Honda Pioneer UTV was traveling eastbound on Robinson Road near Smith Road in Ellis Grove when the UTV lost control, left the roadway to the right and overturned. Hamilton was ejected.

The driver, a 15-year-old male from Chester, and a second passenger, a 14-year-old male from Chester, refused medical attention. The driver was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, operating a non-highway vehicle on roadway, and no valid license/permit, police said.

The crash is being investigated by the Randolph County Coroner's Office and Illinois State Police. Cause of death is pending completion of the investigation.
