Easter Egg Hunt Saturday in Chester

Chester is holding its Easter Egg Hunt and Spring Fling Saturday, April 2 at Cole Memorial Park. The egg hunt is for kids 10 and under; kids will be divided according to age. Those 2 and under will start the fun at 10 a.m., followed by 3- to 5-year-olds at 10:30, 6- to 8-year-olds at 11 and 9- to 10-year-olds at 11:30. Kids should bring their own baskets. Collette Powley will be handing out goody bags, and the Easter Bunny will be on hand.

All ages are invited to stop by and create a birdhouse for the "Home Tweet Home" birdhouse project. There will also be rock painting, and the library will have a craft station as well. In the event of too much rain, a "drive through hunt" will be held.

County board meeting schedule

The Randolph County Board of Commissioners has announced its second quarter meeting dates: April 1, 14 (Thursday) and 29; May 13 and 27; and June 10 and 24. Hikers headed to Jackson Hollow

The River-to-River Trail Society is hosting a hike Saturday, April 2, in the western portion of Jackson Hollow in Pope County. Society President Bill Gilmour will lead a challenging hike of about five and a half miles, mostly off-trail. This hike is rated as difficult and is intended for hikers in good condition who have done some hiking. Hiking sticks and boots or sturdy shoes are strongly recommended. Hikers should bring their own water and a snack. No dogs, please. Hikers should meet at 10 a.m. at East Trigg Trailhead on Trigg Tower Road, about one mile north of Trigg observation tower and three miles northeast of Simpson.
