MHS wrestlers win big at Herrin, 78-6

HERRIN - The Marion Wildcat wrestlers traveled to Herrin on Wednesday evening to battle county rival Herrin in a dual meet.

The Wildcats were without their top two wrestlers, 132 Ricky Wade (24-0) and N152 Nate Dampier (28-1). varsity starter.

But short handed or not the Wildcats dominated the varsity dual, winning 13 of 14 matches.

Making their debut in the varsity lineup were freshmen 106 Riddick Cook and 152 Ivan Carmona. Both won by first period pins.

The other Wildcats picking up wins by pins were at 160, Caleb Ohnesorge (21-8), at 220 Levi Tanner (16-4), at 120 Tate Miller (27-8) and at 138 Hunter Gibb (14-9).

Other Wildcats picking up wins were:

• at 170 Aden White (13-4)

• at 182 Malakei Weatherly (14-4)

• at 195 Clayton Tanner (20-5)

• at 285 Kanye Gunn (19-2)

• at 113 Brennan Vogt (23-9)

• at 126 Aaron Dungy (8-5)

• at 145 Justin Murphy (6-7).

The Wildcats dominated the meet, winning 78-6.

Marion also won all four extra matches with pins from 120 Aaron Dungy, 160 Derrick Khy, 160 Grayson Sanders and 220 Jobe Miller.

The Wildcats improve to 19-2.
