Libraries awarded pandemic grants

Du Quoin and Pinckneyville libraries will receive part of the nearly $6 million in American Rescue Plan money that Illinois Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White is awarding to libraries and school libraries to help them recover from the pandemic.

These libraries responded directly to the COVID-19 pandemic by modifying services, transforming spaces and developing resources for their local recovering workforce.

The Du Quoin Public Library has been awarded $10,520 and the Pinckneyville library will receive $7,564.

Rushing honored at Belmont University

Kenzie Rushing of Pinckneyville has qualified for the fall 2021 dean's list at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. Eligibility is based on a grade-point average of 3.5.

Cornett named to U of A dean's list

Madeleine Cornett of Du Quoin has been named to the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa dean's list for the fall semester. To make the dean's list students need GPAs of 3.5.
