Saline County briefs: River to River fall hike; coffee with state Sen. Dale Fowler

<b>River-to-River first fall hike is Oct. 9</b>

The River-to-River Trail Society will hold its first guided hike of the fall 2021 hiking season at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9, at Jackson Falls in Pope County. Free. Intended for people in good health who have done some hiking. The descent to the floor of Jackson Hollow can be rugged, so hiking sticks and boots or sturdy shoes are strongly recommended. Participants will sign a waiver of liability; bring your own water and a snack. No dogs. Free.

To get to Jackson Falls, turn south off Ozark Road onto Jackson Falls Road (aka Glen St. Falls Road) about 4 miles east of Ozark, Illinois; continue south for about 2 miles to the parking area. Info: (618) 694-7034.

<b>Have coffee with Sen. Dale Fowler in Vienna</b>

State Sen. Dale Fowler will host a "coffee and conversation" event from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14 in the Vienna City Park Pavilion, just off Route 146/East Vine Street in Vienna. The public is invited to join Sen. Fowler for a casual conversation about the state and local issues that matter most to them. No reservations are required.
