Two-car collision in Norris City injures one

A two-car collision in Norris City on Sunday morning sent a 66-year-old man to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to a news release from the Illinois State Police.

Authorities said a preliminary investigation indicates that a 2014 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Stephanie A. Nugent, 39, of Enfield, was northbound on South Division Street approaching Main Street in Norris City at 10:41 a.m., when her car struck a 1994 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Mark E. Barger, 66, of Norris City, whose car was stopped at the intersection.

Police said they cited Nugent with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
