George Hart Post 167 Sons of the American Legion receives DAR award

HARRISBURG - The Michael Hillegas Chapter National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently awarded the George Hart Post 167 Sons of the American Legion the DAR Community Service Award.

Not a group to "toot their own horn," the chapter learned of their many contributions while serving on another community committee. The Sons have donated to many worthy projects scattered throughout Saline County. They donated to schools and community groups for equipment, educational programs, scoreboards, baseball teams, tournaments to assist needy youth, Speech Contests, replacement of stolen band instruments, and the list goes on.

The Michael Hillegas DAR chapter thought it was time that they should be honored. The award was presented at the May meeting during the DAR Awards program that the chapter has each year.
