Two teens injured in DUI-related crash Saturday

GALATIA -- Two 17-year-olds suffered injuries in an early Saturday morning alleged DUI-related crash according to an Illinois State Police District 19 news release.

According to the release, at about 12:35 a.m. Saturday, a 2009 Ford F250 driven by a 17-year-old male from Galatia was driving northbound on Mount Moriah Road in Saline County about half a mile north of Land Road.

The driver failed to negotiate a curve, running off the right side of the roadway and overturning in a ditch.

The driver and his passenger, a 17-year-old male from Marion, both suffered injuries and were taken by ambulance to an area hospital.

The driver was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor and failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.

ISP District 19 reminds the public that all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
