Alex Watkins joins Saline County Chamber as new associate director

SALINE COUNTY - The Saline County Chamber of Commerce welcomed Alex J. Watkins of Harrisburg as its new associate director Monday.

Watkins, a 2017 graduate of Harrisburg High School, has served on the Chamber's board since earlier this year.

He has worked in both the public and private sector, which according to the Chamber gives him necessary experience to help grow and develop the Chamber's strategic plan.

Watkins also owns Classic Crafters and Co., a company he formed while still in high school. That business flourished as the result of Saline County's CEO program, which helps mentor business-minded high school seniors in the development of their own small businesses.

Classic Crafters and Co. makes a wide variety of decorative and often inspirational wall hangings and signs along with other products. The business also recently expanded to include an online presence and sells on a variety of e-commerce platforms, including Etsy, Poshmark and Pinterest.

As part of his mission with the Chamber, Watkins will be reaching out to local businesses in the coming weeks.
