Nancy Lambert: 4-H records are due Friday, in order to receive award at Achievement Night

Saline County 4-H members are reminded to turn in 4-H Record forms to the Extension Office by 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 2022.

In order to receive a plaque or trophy at Achievement Night in October, a 4-H member must complete the records packet. Record forms are still available at the Extension Office, and must be signed by the member, a parent or guardian, and their 4-H Club leader.

<b>Federation meets to elect officers</b>

The Saline County 4-H Federation will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12 at the Extension office. All Federation delegates and other 4-H members interested in the Federation are encouraged to attend. 4-H members interested in running for a Federation officer position are reminded to bring a completed petition to the meeting. We will also be finalizing plans for National 4-H Week.

<b>Management Committee meets</b>

The 4-H Management Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12 at the Extension office. Those in attendance will discuss the 2022 4-H show season and choose award and trophy winners for Achievement Night. All Management Committee members are encouraged to attend.

<b>Eldorado mayor proclamation</b>

On Tuesday, Sept. 13, all Eldorado-area 4-H members are invited to gather at Eldorado City Hall with Mayor Rocky James as he signs a proclamation declaring Eldorado's support of National 4-H Week. The signing will occur at 4:45 p.m. Plan to arrive no later than 4:30 p.m., and wear your favorite 4-H T-shirt.

<b>Harrisburg mayor proclamation</b>

On Thursday, Sept. 15, all Harrisburg-area 4-H members are invited to meet with Mayor John McPeek as he signs a proclamation declaring Harrisburg's support of National 4-H Week. The signing will occur at 5:45 p.m. prior to the city council meeting. Plan to arrive no later than 5:30 p.m., and wear your favorite 4-H T-shirt.

<b>4-H Meat Goat Show</b>

The Saline County 4-H Meat Goat Show was held in the Sam Stafford Livestock Building on July 26. We would like to thank Goat Superintendent Rachel Parish for all she did to prepare for this show. We would also like to thank our judge, Aiden Waychoff.

The 2022 Saline County 4-H Meat Goat Senior Showmanship Grand Champion was Courtney Boulds, and Reserve Champion was Laney Rister. Intermediate Showmanship Grand Champion was Gavin Horton, with Jaylee Evans receiving the ribbon for Reserve Champion. Junior Showmanship Grand Champion was Hallee Whitlock, with Reserve Champion honors going to Mckynlee Feazel.

Breeding Meat Goats were divided into Registered and Commercial classes. McKynlee Feazel was the winner of the Breeding Commercial Meat Goat Grand Champion ribbon, with Hallee Whitlock earning the Reserve Champion ribbon in this class. Breeding Registered Meat Goat Grand Champion was Gavin Horton, and the Reserve Champion ribbon went to Mckynlee Feazel.

McKynlee Feazel and Hallee Whitlock's Meat Goat entries took home Overall Breeding Meat Goat Champion Overall Breeding Reserve Champion, respectively. They each received a banner sponsored by Saline County Farm Bureau and a cooler from Friends of Saline County 4-H.

Hallee Whitlock exhibited the Market Meat Goat Grand Champion, and McKynlee Feazel had the Reserve Champion animal. They were also the winners of the Overall Market Meat Goat Champion and Reserve Champion banners, sponsored by Saline County Farm Bureau and coolers from Friends of Saline County 4-H.

Meat Goat Bred and Owned Breeding Champion Gavin Horton received a plaque and a monetary gift, sponsored by Anderson Crop Insurance - Phil and Karen Anderson. Mckynlee Feazel, Bred and Owned Breeding Reserve Champion, received a plaque and a monetary gift, sponsored by Ron and Carla Bradley.

Meat Goat Bred and Owned Market Champion Gavin Horton and Reserve Champion Mckynlee Feazel each received a plaque and a monetary gift, sponsored by C & B Cattle Company - Chris and Ben Evans.

Saline County 4-H would like to send out a special thank you to our Saline County Farm Bureau for sponsoring the Champion and Reserve Champion banners for our Overall winners. Saline County Farm Bureau also sponsored the ribbons used for all our Saline County 4-H Shows this year.
