Eldorado Garden Study Club visits G.I.F.T. Garden

On Thursday, Aug. 18, members of the Eldorado Garden Study Club visited the Grow Illinois Food Together (G.I.F.T.) Garden in Carmi, which is a project of the University of Illinois Extension Service.

Program coordinator Amy McCarty shared the history of the project and gave the group a tour of the many varieties of vegetables, berries, herbs and flowers grown there.

There are community classes as well as weekly summer classes for children.

After the garden tour, the group enjoyed a delicious lunch at Family Traditions Restaurant, and then toured club member Jan Cleveland's beautiful yard and gardens.
