MARION -- In 2020, Michael Hillegas DAR Veterans Chairman Shelia Albright initiated a food drive to benefit the Marion VA Food Pantry and has made several donations throughout the year.

She visited individuals, churches, organizations to promote the effort and placed posters at libraries and throughout the communities. She also had drop-off points for food and she personally made many visits to pick up individual donations.

The 2020 effort concluded with a final of 210 cases of food, bringing the grand total of donations to 310 cases (3,320 cans) of food. These donations would not have been possible without the generosity of the DAR members as well as other individuals, churches and organizations that Shelia had recruited to help. Plans are already in place to continue a new drive in 2021.
