Harrisburg Township Class of 1957 celebrates 60th reunion

A busy homecoming weekend, planned by Allen Burbank from Harrisburg Township High School Class of 1957, kept classmates informed.

First item on their agenda was to participate in the annual parade during the afternoon of Thursday, Sept. 14. Several classmates and their spouses attended the football game, as did members from other HTHS classes. They were welcomed to the game over the P.A. system.

Of much interest was the tour of the new additions to the high school during the morning of Saturday, Sept. 16. Members of other classes also attended the tour. Of special interest was that some things in the building were not disturbed.

That Saturday evening, the class of 1957 enjoyed dinner at Harrisburg Ponderosa. The following classmates attended the 60th reunion dinner: Delores Dunning Hull, Allen Burbank, Rebecca McDule Murry, Herb Parks, Tom Pfister, Donna Jenkins Modglin, Carla Stuby Fleming, Martha Gibbs Reynolds and Myrna Gee Morse.

Bringing the festivities to an end, Chairman Allen Burbank presided over an interesting and humorous lifetime report from each classmate about his or her experiences.

A special display with pictures of deceased class members was on display. The following class members have passed away during the last 60 years: Donald Abby, Lois Annis, Janice Armistead, Terry Asbell, Jerry Bramlet, Bill Brantley, Robert Brogan, Charles Buchanan, Diane Cass, Mary Ann Conover, Judy Cook, Charles Dabney, Fred Denny, Dickie Drue, Jim Dunn, Henry Duval, Kenneth Fleming, Bill Fox, Judy Franks, Bennie Fulkerson, Janice Gidcumb, Marilyn Gwaltney, Barbara Hancock, Bill Henshaw, Shirley Hull, Bryan Jones, Judy Lambert, Fred Lamkin, Nancy Pankey, Mary Pickford, James Maddox, Barbara May, Patsy Moore, Pat Morgan, Leonard Morris, Sarah Nelson, Judy Nolen, Jack Ozee, Diane Reed, Suzanne Sefried, Joan Seright, Janice Stiff, Wayne Stone, James Stricklin, Joy Taylor, Pat Taylor, Ronald Vick, Norma Warren and Carolyn Wasson.

There might be some deceased class members who are unknown. The married names of the female members are not known for all, so only their maiden names are listed.

The 60th reunion was enjoyable for those who attended and renewed old friendships. Many thanks to Allen Burbank, Martha Gibbs Reynolds and all of their helpers.

As classmates said their good-byes, one question was on their minds. Will there be a 70th HTHS reunion? Only time will tell.
