Harrisburg Library event next week to preview Fairfield PaintOut

Harrisburg District Library will host an art show Monday, Sept. 27 that will serve as a preview of the 2021 Fairfield's PaintOut.

The Fairfield PaintOut is an event in which artists from across the country stay in Fairfield for a week, painting, drawing, sketching or otherwise composing local scenes.

The artists then sell their work, and the event serves as a fundraiser.

Harrisburg District Library board member Lynda Clemmons said the library was approached by PaintOut organizer Jeff Lyon to host the show, called the Camp Ondessonk Art Reception.

The show the library is hosting will feature works from this year's PaintOut artists composed on Sunday, Sept. 26 and the morning of Monday, Sept. 27 at Camp Ondessonk in Ozark.

"This is actually a big deal," Clemmons said. "There will be 24 artists from five states, from what we've been told, who will be participating in this."

When the artists finish their plein air works at Camp Ondessonk on the morning of the 27th, they will then rendezvous at the library, 2 W. Walnut St. in Harrisburg, for the Camp Ondessonk Art Reception at 7 p.m.

The art reception will be a judged event, Clemmons said. It also will feature hors d'oeuvres and is open to the public.
