Man accused of holding officer in headlock

Harrisburg Police arrested a man Sunday accused putting a Harrisburg Police officer in a headlock.

Police arrested Shannon Brian Sullivan, 42, 309 S. Granger St., Harrisburg, 11:57 p.m. Sunday on charges of aggravated assault, aggravated battery on a police officer and resisting arrest. Sullivan posted $2,500 cash bond and was released from the Saline County Detention Center.

The incident began at 11:15 p.m. according to Harrisburg Police Chief Bob Smith.

Sullivan's son was seen in Nelson Escobar's yard at 118 W. Lincoln St. and Escobar confronted him, Smith said.

The juvenile apologized for trespassing and said it was a mistake that he was on Escobar's property. Escobar told him to go home. When he got home he told his father, Sullivan, about the incident and Sullivan went to Escobar's and started to shout racial slurs at him, Smith said.

Police advised Sullivan to calm down and he refused, according to Smith.

When officers tried to arrest him Sullivan got one of them in a headlock and would not release the officer, Smith said.

Sullivan was then physically restrained by assisting officers and taken into the Saline County Jail.
