Carrier Mills man convicted of sexual abuse

Jacob E. Austin, 23, Carrier Mills, was convicted Friday in the Saline County Courthouse on two counts aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl after a three-day trial, according to a release from the Saline County State's Attorney Michael Henshaw.

The jury once reported being deadlocked, then returned a guilty verdict after deliberating about 10 hours. The jury found Austin guilty of two of the three counts.

Judge Walden Morris scheduled sentencing for June 20.

Illinois State Police Agents Bryan Harms and Rick White investigated the case and Henshaw and Assistant State's Attorney Eva Walker prosecuted.
