Police investigate stabbing of man's face

A Harrisburg man was stabbed in the face during an altercation that occurred in the back seat of a moving car in Harrisburg Saturday night.

The victim, Kyle Day, 21, 262 E. Trammel St., Carrier Mills, was hospitalized in Evansville, Ind., according to Harrisburg Police Chief Bob Smith.

Smith said there were five people in the car at the time of the stabbing and that the vehicle was somewhere in Harrisburg. Police still have unanswered questions regarding the case and who was responsible for the stabbing, though one man believed to have been a passenger in the car is in custody.

"The investigation is ongoing. We interviewed the victim and are still interviewing witnesses in the car," Smith said.

One passenger was booked into the Saline County jail noon Tuesday. Ian Garrett Hamilton, 19, 204 E. Dayton St., Harrisburg, faces charges of aggravated battery and violation of probation, Smith said. He remained held this morning awaiting a court appearance for the setting of bond.
