Du Quoin Cheerleaders Wear Green Ribbons in Loving Memory of the Children & School Staff at Newtown, Conn.

The Du Quoin Middle School cheerleaders wore green ribbons at the boys game Wednesday night in honor of the victims from Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. The fans and players were thrilled by the thoughtfulness of the remembrance. At least nine funerals and visitations were held Wednesday for those who died when gunman Adam Lanza, armed with a military-style assault rifle, broke into Sandy Hook Elementary School Friday and opened fire. Lanza killed his mother at her home before the attack and committed suicide at the school as police closed in. Today, five funerals and six visitations were planned, and more tributes were scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
