Mildred J. Pool Benefield

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mildred J. Pool Benefield, 91, Bowling Green, Ky., died 12:40 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, at Britthaven Nursing Home, Bowling Green, Ky.

She was born in Broughton on Oct. 24, 1918, to the late Robert and Edith L. Johann Pool. She was raised at the home of her late grandmother and grandfather Pool, after the passing of her mother in the 1918 flu epidemic. She attended Big Hill School, a one-room school room, during her elementary school years and was graduated from Eldorado High School.

She was married to the late Johnie H. Benefield in 1936 in Carmi by the Rev. C.W. Travis. She was active in the First Baptist Church of Eldorado, the Parent Teacher Association and the Order of Eastern Star No. 610. She was an active member of the Rich Pond Baptist Church until Johnie's illness.

Visitation is 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at J.C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel, Bowling Green, Ky. Visitation will also be held from 9 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bowling Green Gardens, Bowling Green, Ky.

Survivors include two sons, Bill Benefield and wife Frances of Bowling Green, Ky. and Gary Benefield and wife Susan of Bowling Green, Ky.; a brother, John W. Pool and wife Betty of Harrisburg; a sister, Judy Pool of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Greg Benefield and wife Bonita, Kim Jenkins and husband Bill, Emily Benefield, and John Benefield and his wife Courtney; five great-grandchildren, Wes Benefield, Stacey Benefield, Holly Benefield, J.D. Jenkins and Macey Jenkins; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnie H. Benefield.
