Prep Softball: Harrisburg drops a pair; Bearcats beat Benton
The Harrisburg High School softball team fell in two games Monday, losing to Nashville 10-0 in five innings and then falling to Pope County 7-5 in the nightcap.
The Bulldogs, who will play Benton today in the Eldorado Class 2A Regional at 4:30 p.m. have little time to think about the losses and no one knows that better than head coach Red Stafford.
The Rangers took two meetings from Harrisburg this year, beating the Bulldogs 4-0 and 3-2 in nine innings.
"We're going to have to come out more focused than what he did Monday night," Stafford said. "Otherwise, it's going to be a short post season for us."
In the loss to Nashville and Pope County, Harrisburg played without the services of Whitney Younger, but the senior should be good to go today for Regional play.
"We had to move some people around, but we just didn't do anything right all night long," Stafford said. "We just didn't come out focused at all. We played flat and Nashville scored six runs in the first couple of innings and only hit one ball out of the infield. I was disappointed in how we approached both ball games Monday."
